Job Description

This job opening is with a major home improvement retailer known for its expansive warehouse complexes and dedication to maintaining high standards of equipment and facility upkeep. The company thrives on operational excellence and prioritizes creating a safe and efficient work environment. It operates in a highly dynamic and technical warehouse setting where equipment functionality and facility maintenance are crucial to overall productivity. The establishment offers stable employment in the facilities maintenance domain with opportunities for skill enhancement, particularly in mechanical and technical repair disciplines.

The role specifically focuses on overseeing, maintaining, and repairing equipment and facility structures in a complex warehouse environment. This includes responsibility for troubleshooting and repairing electric lift equipment, conveyor systems, and addressing technical mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues. The technician will be expected to perform preventative maintenance and necessary modifications to equipment and building infrastructure, ensuring operational continuity and safety compliance. A significant part of the duties involves understanding conveyor operating system logic to effectively diagnose and remediate issues.

Working in this position requires considerable technical acumen, a mechanical inclination, and the ability to apply basic computer skills. The role reports directly to an Area Supervisor and does not involve managing direct reports, making it a hands-on technical position. Travel is occasionally required, though it constitutes less than 10% of the job, generally involving overnight stays. Physically, the role demands continuous standing and walking, with regular lifting or handling of moderate-weight equipment ranging from 8 to 20 pounds.

The environment typically is comfortable but can involve exposure to temperature extremes, loud noise, moving machinery, and occasional fumes, reflecting the typical conditions found in warehouse and industrial settings. The position requires adherence to safety codes, regulatory standards such as OSHA guidelines, and manufacturer instructions, underscoring the importance of workplace safety and risk management.

Candidates should be at least eighteen years old and legally permitted to work in the United States. Educational qualifications include completion of a trade school degree program or an equivalent degree related to mechanical maintenance or technical repair fields. While prior experience specifically on conveyor systems is preferred, the essential qualification is at least one year of relevant work experience. The role calls for flexibility in scheduling, with availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Overall, this position suits candidates who are mechanically inclined, eager to apply their technical skills in a practical, fast-paced warehouse environment, and committed to maintaining high equipment standards. It offers hands-on exposure to a blend of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems alongside electrical repair, contributing to a vital function within the warehouse operational workflow.
