The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (UMTC), is one of the largest public research universities in the United States, offering a diverse range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. Situated in the vibrant Minneapolis and St. Paul metropolitan area, UMTC provides students and staff with unique opportunities for academic study, research, and professional development through its extensive partnerships with world-renowned health centers, international corporations, governmental agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Recognized as a top workplace by leading publications such as the Star Tribune and Forbes, the University emphasizes diversity, inclusivity, and innovation in its institutional culture, which fosters an outstanding environment for learning and career growth. This reputation for excellence is complemented by its commitment to creating opportunities for employees to contribute meaningfully across a variety of domains including education, research, and community service.
This particular temporary position is for a DBA Event Program Manager at the Carlson Global Institute (CGI), focusing on executive-level event management and international program coordination. The role spans a duration of 13 weeks, from June 15 through September 11, 2026, and involves a variable schedule with three days per week on campus (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM), intensifying to more than five days weekly during the key "Peak Week" period in late August and early September. Applicants should anticipate potential evening and weekend work during this intense timeframe. The overall responsibility is to ensure the flawless execution of high-profile and high-stakes programming events which require a blend of meticulous administrative skills, logistical expertise, and on-site leadership capabilities. The role plays a central part in coordinating every aspect of large-scale events including travel arrangements, catering services, event safety compliance, and detailed itinerary management.
In this capacity, the Event Program Manager will act as the primary liaison for digital communications, managing executive-level correspondence and the creation of formal program documents in English. Attention to detail is critical, especially in maintaining real-time accuracy of all program-related data and managing sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and security. The manager will also collaborate extensively with CGI colleagues to provide seamless cross-functional support during the busy summer to fall transition period.
This position demands experience with university or global corporate event settings, a solid grounding in event safety and risk management, and technical proficiency in both Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace. Flexibility in working hours and mobility for off-site tasks with a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are necessary. Preferred but not required is proficiency in Mandarin, providing additional advantage in a global context.
Overall, the DBA Event Program Manager role at UMTC’s Carlson Global Institute offers a dynamic and challenging opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of complex international programs and executive events within a leading research university environment, supporting a prestigious global brand with a strong commitment to excellence and community engagement.
