The position of Child Care Cook, also known as Food Specialist, plays a critical role in supporting the health and nutrition of enrolled children at Learning Care’s centers. The Food Specialist is primarily responsible for preparing meals and snacks in accordance with state and federal nutritional guidelines, staying adaptable to menu changes, and ensuring timely distribution of food to classrooms. This role requires a blend of culinary skills, organization, and adherence to health and safety standards. Responsibilities include creating home-style, nutritious meals that operate within the constraints of the school’s budget and menu offerings, as well as compliance with USDA regulations and other licensing requirements. The Food Specialist is expected to maintain food inventories, track supplies, and place orders to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Beyond kitchen duties, this role also offers opportunities to provide classroom support as an assistant teacher or floater, contributing directly to the children’s learning environment. Compensation for this role is competitive and reflects the candidate’s experience and education, with pay rates ranging from $16.38 to $17.02 per hour. Job Requirements
