The Driver, Hourly CDL-A position at Core-Mark plays a pivotal role in the country's food supply chain by ensuring timely and efficient delivery of food and food-related products. This role doesn't require previous commercial driving experience, welcoming new drivers while also offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus for experienced CDL-A drivers with at least one year of driving experience. Drivers are expected to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks mainly on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes. With an average annual earning potential of $70,000 to $80,000 and a Monday through Friday schedule featuring a 4-day workweek, this role offers a balanced work-life environment. Dispatch times fall between 2:00 am and 8:00 am, and drivers return home every day.

The responsibilities encompass ensuring the safety and integrity of tractor/trailer equipment, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, conducting all required safety inspections, and maintaining excellent communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues. Drivers are also responsible for verifying product delivery, managing necessary paperwork, handling customer returns, and maintaining clean and secure equipment. Job Requirements

  • No previous commercial driving experience required
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test
  • Pass criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card
  • Ability to hand-lift and use two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment
  • Meet state licensing and certification requirements where applicable

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Possess a valid CDL-A license
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Maintain a clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure a new one
  • Ability to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move product cases ranging from 10 to 90 pounds

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines
  • Immediately report all safety hazards and inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and verify customer invoices
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers
  • Drive and deliver customer orders according to route schedules, unloading products into designated storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items, obtain proper signatures, and collect payments as required
  • Load customer returns and secure trailer doors
  • Unload damaged goods and complete relevant paperwork
  • Complete daily hours of service and log records according to DOT and company requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock areas
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
