The role of a Driver, Hourly CDL-B at Core-Mark is integral to the company’s mission of maintaining a resilient and effective food supply chain. These professionals are essential frontline representatives who ensure timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to customers. This position specifically requires operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes including intrastate and interstate, local shuttles, overnight schedules, and drive and drop deliveries. The drivers' responsibilities extend beyond transportation to encompass detailed pre- and post-trip safety inspections in adherence to Department of Transportation regulations, diligent handling and securing of freight, accurate completion of delivery and freight paperwork, and professional interactions with customers, vendors, and coworkers. The role demands a high degree of reliability and accountability, as drivers must report any safety concerns or vehicle issues promptly and maintain all records related to hours of service and compliance with Federal and state laws.
Operating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the Driver must be physically able to handle product cases typically ranging from 10 to 35 pounds and occasionally lifting weights up to 90 pounds, utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates for efficient freight management. Job Requirements
- high school diploma/ged or equivalent
- 6+ months of foodservice distribution industry experience
- valid CDL-B license
- must be 21+ years of age
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- pass road test
- attain or have valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
- physically able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases ranging from 10 to 90 pounds
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- inspect tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and report any safety issues or repairs needed
- follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- immediately report all safety hazards
- inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- perform count check of items and verify customer invoices of loaded products
- complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly for freight
- move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- unload products from trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
- perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders as per company policy
- verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- collect money where required
- load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
- ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked or secured
- unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required
- complete daily record of hours of service and enter logs in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean
- secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at the end of shifts
- perform other related duties as assigned
