The Day Porter position at the Public Health Building in Raleigh, NC, is a full-time role offering a competitive hourly wage of $15.00. This role is crucial in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in various facility areas including offices, lobbies, restrooms, and common spaces, adhering to established industry standards. The Day Porter will be responsible for performing a range of custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, waste disposal, restroom sanitation, and cleaning high-touch surfaces to ensure a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for all building occupants. The job requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to workplace safety, including compliance with infection control measures and the proper use of personal protective equipment. Additionally, the role involves handling bio-waste safely and reporting any safety hazards to management. Owens Realty Services provides a structured work schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, enabling consistency for employees. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to stand and walk for long periods
  • flexible to work full-time schedule Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM
  • adherence to company dress code including wearing uniform and safety shoes
  • pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • ability to follow safety and infection control protocols
  • reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in custodial or housekeeping services preferred
  • knowledge of cleaning equipment and best practices
  • understanding of infection control and safety procedures
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • physical ability to perform manual tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

Job Duties

  • Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the company's integrity
  • performs routine cleaning of offices, lobbies, breakrooms, lounges, corridors, bathrooms, elevators, and stairways
  • cleans and sanitizes restrooms including stocking supplies
  • cleans and dusts furniture, fixtures, windows, doors, and trim
  • collects recyclable and non-recyclable waste and replaces trash liners
  • cleans telephones using disinfectants
  • vacuums and removes debris from carpets in traffic areas
  • cleans light switches, doors, walls, and furniture surfaces
  • cleans and polishes tables, benches, elevators, escalators, water fountains, and sinks
  • safely empties trash and manages heavy waste
  • secures job areas with safety signs during hazardous tasks
  • locks and unlocks doors and windows as necessary
  • reports safety hazards to supervisors
  • follows infection control practices and safety procedures including PPE use
  • ensures cleaning carts and custodial closets are properly maintained and secured
  • keeps pathways clear of hazards
  • completes additional duties as assigned
