Located in Los Angeles, CA, the Day Porter position offers part-time employment, specifically working two days a week on weekends—Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This role focuses on maintaining the cleanliness and order of common areas in office buildings, apartment complexes, and other commercial or institutional establishments. The Day Porter is essential to providing a welcoming atmosphere through meticulous routine cleaning tasks and facility upkeep.

The Day Porter’s responsibilities include spot cleaning lobby glass doors, polishing chrome fixtures, vacuuming elevator cabs, inspecting and tidying building exteriors, emptying trash receptacles, and assisting building engineers as needed. This role supports the overall safety, appearance, and hygiene of the property while ensuring high-traffic areas remain presentable during peak times. The job requires a keen eye for detail with duties such as cleaning ashtrays and sand urns on every floor, sweeping stairwells and entrances, removing debris from landscaped areas, and reporting maintenance or security issues promptly.

Job Duties

  • Spot clean the lobby glass doors
  • polish chrome on lobby doors
  • vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day
  • inspect the building exterior and pick up any trash
  • clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
  • empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
  • check restrooms twice daily
  • vacuum lobby once a day or as needed
  • sweep stairwells and landings as needed
  • remove all debris from landscaped areas as needed
  • sweep building entrances
  • clean and remove smudges and marks on walls, doors, and wall covering
  • report any lights out (exit, directory boards, etc.) to the Management Office
  • report any solicitors to the Management Office
  • police lobby to keep floors and planters free of paper, debris, etc.
  • empty all trash receptacles
  • vacuum carpeted floors
  • dust mop lobby floors twice daily
  • polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons
  • assist building Engineer daily per Management discretion
