The role of the Day Porter at CCS Facility Services is integral to maintaining a clean, organized, and disinfected work environment. This position requires a dependable individual who takes pride in providing a welcoming atmosphere for employees, visitors, and clients through meticulous cleaning practices. As a Day Porter, you will be responsible for the upkeep of the interior spaces of buildings, ensuring floors, carpets, rugs, windows, walls, and various furniture pieces are kept in pristine condition. Your duties will include routine tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and removing stains from furniture. Additionally, you will handle trash disposal, clean restrooms, and replenish supplies as necessary.

Working hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., requiring availability during these times. The Day Porter must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and should be comfortable working in environments that may expose them occasionally to mechanical parts, fumes, or outdoor weather conditions. The role also includes responsibilities such as monitoring cleaning supplies inventory, reporting unsafe conditions, maintaining cleaning charts, and adhering strictly to safety protocols.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to pass a background check and Live Scan fingerprinting as required by California law
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in environments with occasional exposure to mechanical parts fumes chemicals outdoor weather electrical risks and vibration
  • Must follow safety and precaution rules
  • Willingness to close doors at end of shift

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous janitorial or custodial experience is an advantage
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
  • Good communication skills to report maintenance or safety issues
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and company procedures
  • Dependability and punctuality with a strong work ethic

Job Duties

  • Clean the interior of buildings including floors carpets rugs windows and walls and general tasks
  • Vacuum sweep and mop floors in offices rooms hallways lobbies lounges elevators stairs locker rooms and other work areas
  • Clean stains from chairs and upholstered furniture
  • Keep furniture free of dust as well as lighting fixtures marble surfaces and moldings
  • Empty trash cans as well as clean trash cans and ashtrays
  • Disinfect commonly used items such as desks door handles office tools and phones
  • Clean and maintain restrooms as well as replenish supplies in this area and where required
  • Wash and clean windows and mirrors
  • Empty trash and recycling containers to the disposal area
  • Clean trash and snow from sidewalks if necessary
  • Maintain the inventory of cleaning supplies in stock and request missing materials from supervisors
  • Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions or conditions requiring maintenance
  • Maintain a cleaning chart indicating the areas that were cleaned and inspected
  • Follow safety and precaution rules
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Close doors at the end of the night shift
