The Day Porter - Floater role at CCS Facility Services is a vital position responsible for maintaining the common areas of office buildings, apartment complexes, and other commercial or institutional facilities. This role is unique in that it not only involves traditional day porter duties but also serves as a floater, offering flexible coverage across multiple sites. The objective is to support operations during periods of employee call-offs, scheduled time off, leaves of absence, or special staffing needs, thereby ensuring continuous, high-quality service.
In this role, the employee will be tasked with maintaining cleanliness and safety in high-traffic areas such as lobbies, elevators, stairwells, restrooms, and exterior grounds. Responsibilities include spot cleaning glass doors, polishing chrome fixtures, vacuuming elevator cabs, and inspecting building exteriors for trash. Additionally, the position requires emptying and cleaning trash receptacles, ensuring restrooms meet cleanliness standards, sweeping entrances and stairwells, and reporting maintenance issues such as burnt-out lights or unauthorized solicitors.
As a floater, adaptability and the ability to quickly adjust to various environments, client expectations, and schedules are essential. The employee must maintain consistent service quality and professionalism across different assignments, demonstrating reliability and a proactive approach to their work. Collaboration with building engineers and adherence to safety protocols are also important aspects of this job to ensure a safe working environment for tenants and visitors.

The work environment may expose the employee to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions, requiring vigilance and adherence to safety and security measures. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Availability to work flexible hours
- Previous janitorial or cleaning experience preferred
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Reliable transportation for travel between job sites
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
- Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in janitorial or porter services preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

- Knowledge of safety and security procedures
Job Duties
- Spot clean the lobby glass doors
- Polish chrome on lobby doors
- Vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day
- Inspect the building exterior and pick up any trash
- Clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
- Empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
- Check restrooms twice daily
- Vacuum lobby once a day or as needed
- Sweep stairwells and landings as needed
- Remove all debris from landscaped areas as needed
- Sweep building entrances
- Clean and remove smudges and marks on walls, doors, and wall covering
- Report any lights out (exit, directory boards, etc.) to the Management Office
- Report any solicitors to the Management Office
- Police lobby to keep floors and planters free of paper, debris, etc.
- Vacuum carpeted floors
- Dust mop lobby floors twice daily
- Polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons
- Assist building Engineer daily per Management discretion
- Provide flexible coverage at multiple sites as assigned
- Cover shifts for employees who are absent due to call-offs, vacations, sick leave, or other approved leave
- Adapt quickly to different buildings, schedules, and client expectations
- Maintain consistent service quality and professionalism across all assigned locations
