The Day Porter role at CCS Facility Services is a vital position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderly condition of common areas within office buildings, apartment houses, or other commercial or institutional facilities. The successful candidate will be entrusted with essential duties such as cleaning lobby glass doors, polishing chrome surfaces, vacuuming elevator cabs, inspecting building exteriors for trash, cleaning ashtrays and sand urns, and maintaining exterior trash receptacles. This role also involves monitoring restrooms, sweeping stairwells and building entrances, removing debris from landscaped areas, and reporting maintenance issues or solicitors to management. The Day Porter plays a crucial part in ensuring that the building environment is welcoming, safe, and well-maintained for both occupants and visitors. This position also supports building engineers daily as needed, emphasizing teamwork and collaboration within the facility services operation.
Performance competencies critical to success in this role include consistent attendance and punctuality, dependability in following instructions and responding to management direction, safety and security awareness, and the ability to adhere to procedures for equipment use and hazard reporting. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in janitorial or custodial roles preferred
- ability to perform physical tasks and work on feet for extended periods
- reliable attendance and punctuality
- ability to operate cleaning equipment safely
- basic understanding of safety and security procedures
- capability to report maintenance issues and follow company protocols

Job Duties
- spot clean the lobby glass doors
- polish chrome on lobby doors
- vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day
- inspect the building exterior and pick up any trash
- clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
- empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
- check restrooms twice daily
- vacuum lobby once a day or as needed
- sweep stairwells and landings as needed
- remove all debris from landscaped areas as needed
- sweep building entrances
- clean and remove smudges and marks on walls, doors, and wall covering
- report any lights out (exit, directory boards, etc.) to the Management Office
- report any solicitors to the Management Office
- police lobby to keep floors and planters free of paper, debris, etc. and empty all trash receptacles
- vacuum carpeted floors
- dust mop lobby floors twice daily
- polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons
- assist building Engineer daily per Management discretion
