With state-of-the-art facilities and a team of passionate professionals, the YMCA fosters a welcoming environment where members of all backgrounds can pursue their personal and fitness goals, develop meaningful relationships, and contribute positively to their community.
This position is a vital role within the YMCA's facility management team, focusing on maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and the general upkeep of the assigned areas within the organization’s properties. The role includes responsibilities such as mopping, dusting, trash removal, window washing, pool cleaning, snow removal, and groundskeeping duties. The position demands a dedicated professional who can operate both motorized and non-motorized equipment efficiently, as well as perform light maintenance and repair tasks as necessary. Additionally, the facility assistant ensures that the YMCA building and property are secure during shifts, reporting any incidents or hazardous conditions to supervisors promptly.
Employees are expected to follow a daily schedule that covers various cleaning and maintenance assignments. They also replenish supplies like soap and paper towels, maintain equipment, and may assist with setting up furniture for events. This role requires a strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks in diverse conditions that may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, paint, and outdoor elements. Emphasizing safety and quality, the employee contributes to providing a safe, clean, and pleasant atmosphere for YMCA members and staff.
The YMCA values competencies such as building strong relationships, delivering quality results, personal self-development, and functional expertise. Candidates are encouraged to demonstrate these qualities for optimal performance and career growth within the organization. The position is ideally suited for individuals who take pride in their work, are proactive in identifying maintenance needs, and possess a commitment to upholding the YMCA's mission. Although no explicit salary range or employment type is stated, the role is typically aligned with hourly wage-based employment common in facility services at nonprofit community organizations.
