The role being offered is an essential position within the YMCA infrastructure team focused on maintenance and cleanliness of the facilities and grounds. The position involves a broad range of custodial and maintenance duties including sanitizing and cleaning assigned areas, which include tasks such as mopping, dusting, trash removal, and maintaining overall cleanliness and hygiene to organizational standards. Additionally, the role encompasses duties like window washing, pool cleaning, snow removal, groundskeeping, and event setup, indicating a multi-faceted role aimed at maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for YMCA members and visitors. Beyond routine cleaning, the individual will be responsible for operating both motorized and non-motorized equipment required for various maintenance tasks, ensuring that all areas and equipment are well-kept and fully functional.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • six months of custodial or maintenance experience preferred
  • ability to read and interpret instructions
  • ability to perform physical tasks including standing, reaching, lifting, and operating equipment
  • willingness to work in environments involving dust, dirt, chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions
  • ability to work safely on ladders and platforms up to 30 feet
  • ability to perform minor maintenance and repair tasks
  • strong attention to detail and dependability

Job Qualifications

  • Six months or more of related experience preferred
  • ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
  • ability to report and record maintenance requests
  • knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment
  • basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment
  • understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use

Job Duties

  • Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas including mopping, dusting, and trash removal
