The Day Porter position at SBM Management is an integral role designed to maintain cleanliness and uphold excellent customer service standards within the facilities managed by SBM. This role requires an individual who is not only hardworking and dependable but also capable of delivering superior customer satisfaction. As a Custodian/Customer Service Representative (CSR), the Day Porter will collaborate effectively with team members and customers alike, ensuring a welcoming and pristine environment. This position demands a keen attention to detail in executing cleaning tasks such as floor care, surface maintenance, waste removal, and light maintenance duties including restocking supplies and replacing light bulbs. The role also emphasizes safety by requiring compliance with all safety rules, policies, and protocols, using personal protective equipment, and recognizing and mitigating any risk behavior.
Furthermore, the Day Porter is expected to maintain a professional appearance and conduct, understand reporting systems, and assist with the transportation and organization of equipment and supplies. The position covers routine cleaning tasks during the day, interspersed with support duties during event downtime, such as cleaning workspaces and assisting janitorial staff with restrooms and break rooms. This multifaceted role ensures public areas like lobbies, conference rooms, and elevators are kept clean and orderly. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to follow written and oral instructions, and the good judgment required to make work-related decisions and assist in training new team members when necessary.
Scheduled shifts for this role are Monday through Friday, with two available time slots: 8am to 12pm and 4pm to 8pm. Compensation for the Day Porter position is $20.29 per hour. Job Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation
- Less than high school education or up to one-month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read 2-3 syllable words, recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers
- Ability to print clearly and speak simple sentences
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and customers
- Know how to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
- Know the American measures of money, weight, size, length, shapes, distance and measures such as cups, pints, quarts, gallons, etc
- Required to have a valid driver’s license if driving own vehicle or company vehicle on business time, will also require you have proof of vehicle registration and insurance
- Bilingual is a plus, not required

Job Duties
- Floor care including vacuuming, mopping, carpet spotting
- Surface care including dusting, sanitizing, glass, mirror, window cleaning, metal and wood polishing, cleaning blinds and draperies
- Waste removal including emptying trash and recycle bins, transporting trash and waste to proper disposal areas
- Light maintenance including replacing light bulbs, restocking supply cabinet and rooms
- Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
- Take direction and respond to supervision
- Use proper personal protective equipment
- Present a professional appearance and conduct
- Understand reporting systems and the environment
- Transport small equipment, tools, chairs, and tables
- Straighten areas such as lobbies and conference rooms
- Pick up trash, recycling, and compost bins and transport to proper disposal areas
- Assist janitorial staff with restocking restrooms and break rooms
- Damp mop floors
- Restroom cleaning
- Glass cleaning
- Restock and organize supplies in janitorial closets and storage areas
