Job Description
ABM is a premier global provider specializing in integrated facility solutions, including facility management, engineering, and maintenance services. With over 100,000 employees worldwide and annual revenue exceeding $8 billion, ABM plays a critical role in ensuring clean, safe, and efficient environments across numerous sectors such as commercial real estate, aviation, education, mission-critical facilities, and manufacturing. The company's commitment to sustainability, innovation, and workforce development positions it as a leader in the facility services industry. Dedicated to delivering superior service and client satisfaction, ABM emphasizes creating smarter, more connected spaces that enhance the occupant experience and empower clients to meet their operational goals.
This particular role is for a Day Porter to work in a campus environment—ranging from K-12 schools to colleges and universities—providing general cleaning and maintenance support within designated areas. This opportunity is ideal for individuals entering or re-entering the workforce, especially those with limited experience and education. ABM fosters a military-friendly culture and encourages veterans and candidates with military backgrounds to apply, recognizing the valuable skills they bring to the team.
As a Day Porter, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of a variety of campus locations including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways. The role involves routine tasks such as sweeping, mopping, removing debris, and emptying trash receptacles. Compliance with safety standards and proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment is paramount to prevent damage while maintaining a pristine environment for students, faculty, and staff. The Day Porter also plays a vital role in communicating any facility issues to supervisors and assists in minor repairs or maintenance coordination.
In addition to interior cleaning duties, the position may involve outdoor seasonal tasks such as leaf raking, snow removal, and basic landscaping to maintain the campus appearance. Interaction with building occupants including clients, coworkers, and management requires professionalism and effective communication skills. This role provides on-the-job training, making it accessible to individuals without prior experience or formal educational credentials. Preferred candidates may have up to one year of relevant cleaning or customer service experience.
ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of its commitment to employee well-being. The company supports diversity, equal opportunity employment, and provides reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, ABM participates in the E-Verify program to ensure employment eligibility. Those interested are encouraged to apply through ABM's official career portal, where dedicated staff are ready to support applicants through the hiring process.
