This company seeks to employ a Day Porter, a vital team member responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the shop floor, offices, restrooms, break areas, hallways, and other common spaces throughout the workday. The role emphasizes a combination of janitorial duties and basic preventive maintenance, ensuring that the environment remains safe, orderly, and inviting for all staff and visitors. The Day Porter’s responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming floors, emptying trash and recycling receptacles, and restocking supplies in restrooms. Additionally, they are tasked with wiping down high-touch surfaces such as door handles, counters, and railings, as well as cleaning windows and interior glass surfaces to maintain a polished facility appearance. Monitoring the condition of the facility and promptly reporting any maintenance issues such as lighting, plumbing, HVAC, or safety concerns to the Facilities Supervisor is a key function of this role.

This job requires compliance with all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures, along with adherence to company policy and safe work practices. The Day Porter role is critical to upholding the standards that keep the work environment functional and welcoming. The position demands physical stamina and the capacity to perform duties that involve standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, and occasionally lifting weights up to 40 pounds.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and at least six months of janitorial experience. Strong communication skills in English—both verbal and written—are necessary to follow instructions accurately and effectively communicate any facility issues. Job Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness of the shop floor, offices, hallways, restrooms, break areas, and other common spaces throughout the day
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors as needed to ensure a clean and orderly environment
  • Empty and maintain trash and recycling receptacles
  • replace liners as required
  • Clean and restock restrooms, including soap, paper products, and other supplies
  • Wipe down high-touch surfaces such as door handles, railings, counters, and tables
  • Clean windows, glass doors, and interior glass surfaces
  • Monitor facility conditions and promptly report maintenance issues to the Facilities Supervisor
  • Comply with applicable environmental, health, safety policies and procedures, company policy, and safe work practices
