The role of the Day Floater at CCS Facility Services is essential for maintaining the daily cleanliness and order of common areas in various buildings. This position focuses on performing a wide variety of janitorial duties that sustain the aesthetic and functional quality of the buildings served. Key responsibilities include spot cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, trash management, restroom checks, window and surface polishing, and providing general upkeep of entrance areas, elevators, and stairwells.
The Day Floater helps to maintain a positive first impression for visitors and supports a safe, clean, and healthy environment for all building occupants. In addition to routine cleaning tasks, this position requires vigilance in reporting lighting issues, solicitors, or any conditions that might affect safety or operational standards to building management. The Day Floater also assists building engineers as needed, supporting the broader facility maintenance team.

The employee must demonstrate a commitment to safety protocols and use cleaning equipment and materials properly. The environment includes occasional exposure to mechanical parts, chemicals, outdoor weather, and noise, making safety awareness critical. Job Duties
- Spot clean the lobby glass doors
- polish chrome on lobby doors
- vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day
- inspect the building exterior and pick up any trash
- clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
- empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
- check restrooms twice daily
- vacuum lobby once a day or as needed
- sweep stairwells and landings as needed
- remove all debris from landscaped areas as needed
- sweep building entrances
- clean and remove smudges and marks on walls, doors, and wall covering
- report any lights out (exit, directory boards, etc.) to the Management Office
- report any solicitors to the Management Office
- police lobby to keep floors and planters free of paper, debris, etc., especially at high-traffic times daily
- empty all trash receptacles
- vacuum carpeted floors
- dust mop lobby floors twice daily
- polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons
- assist building Engineer daily per Management discretion
