The role of a Day Floater at CCS Facility Services offers a unique opportunity to be part of this dynamic team that ensures the upkeep and cleanliness of commercial and institutional spaces such as office buildings and apartment houses. The Day Floater is responsible for maintaining common areas in clean and orderly condition performing a variety of specific janitorial tasks. This position is vital for creating a welcoming and spotless environment for building occupants and visitors. Duties include cleaning glass doors and chrome fittings, vacuuming elevator interiors, inspecting building exteriors, maintaining ashtrays and sand urns, emptying exterior trash receptacles, and sweeping stairwells and entrances. The Day Floater also monitors restrooms, cleans debris from landscaped areas, polishes elevator cab railings and lobby call buttons, reports maintenance issues such as lighting outages, and assists building engineers as needed. Attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures are critical in this role. This job requires punctuality, dependability, and a proactive approach to maintaining facility cleanliness and safety.

The work environment for this position includes moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, chemicals, outdoor weather, and the risk of electrical shock. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior janitorial or custodial experience preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Must be punctual and dependable
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings or evenings if required
  • Basic English communication skills
  • Physical capability to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • Willingness to comply with safety regulations and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in janitorial or facility maintenance work is advantageous
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform repetitive tasks accurately
  • Good communication skills to report issues to management
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning duties including lifting and standing for extended periods

Job Duties

  • Spot clean lobby glass doors
  • Polish chrome on lobby doors
  • Vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day
  • Inspect building exterior and pick up any trash
  • Clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
  • Empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
  • Check restrooms twice daily
  • Vacuum lobby once a day or as needed
  • Sweep stairwells and landings as needed
  • Remove debris from landscaped areas as needed
  • Sweep building entrances
  • Clean and remove smudges and marks on walls, doors, and wall covering
  • Report any lights out to Management Office
  • Report any solicitors to Management Office
  • Police lobby to keep floors and planters free of debris and empty trash receptacles
  • Vacuum carpeted floors
  • Dust mop lobby floors twice daily
  • Polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons
  • Assist building engineer daily per management discretion
