The YMCA of Greenville is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join their team as a Day Camp Site Leader. This role is pivotal in providing physical, mental, and spiritual growth opportunities for children participating in their programs. The Day Camp Site Leader is responsible for leading and supervising a team of staff, ensuring that program components are delivered with excellence and in line with age-appropriate developmental standards. The leader plays a key role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing camp environment that promotes high-quality programming and staff development. This is a part-time position with the requirement of working 30-40 hours per week during the 9-10 weeks of the Summer Day Camp.
In this important leadership role, the Day Camp Site Leader will oversee various activities designed to enrich campers’ experiences, including lesson planning, risk management implementation, and coordination of special events such as Parents Night Out and Family Events. The leader will also support the Youth Program Director with staff scheduling, tuition processing, and disciplinary actions, fostering a strong and positive team environment. A critical aspect of the role includes maintaining accurate records, adhering to licensing regulations and quality standards, and exemplifying the YMCA’s core character values in all interactions. Job Requirements
- 30 hours of pre-camp planning work
- Attendance at new hire orientation prior to start date
- CPR, first aid, blood borne pathogens and child abuse prevention certifications within 30 days of hiring date
- Attendance at all staff trainings and meetings
- Ability to work 30-40 hours per week during summer day camp (9-10 weeks)
Job Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High school diploma
- Minimum of 3 seasons of experience or years working with youth
- Must have previous leadership experience
- Ability to be a good role model and to adapt to changing needs and circumstances
Job Duties
- Supervise and ensure the safety of children at all times
- Develop and implement lesson plans for program times utilizing risk management guidelines, developmental characteristics, variety, creativity, and academic enriched activities
- Assist Youth Program Director with creating staff and program schedules
- Maintain equipment and facilities use only in an appropriate manner
- Assist in the planning and running of Parents Night Out, and Family Events in conjunction with Youth Program Director, as required
- Ensure staff members execute program responsibilities as assigned including lesson plans, devotions, group activities, Family Events and water activities
- Build and maintain positive relationships at all times with children, parents and co-workers and actively engage parents and families on a daily basis
