Job Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Services is a global leader in cloud computing services, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of the world’s largest and most complex data center infrastructure. These data centers support all AWS services and ensure continuous availability of servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment for millions of customers worldwide. AWS’s Infrastructure Operations team plays a pivotal role in maintaining the performance, security, and reliability of these data centers, which are foundational to the cloud platform that powers startups, enterprises, and government organizations. Known for its innovative environment, commitment to inclusion, and dedication to employee growth, AWS fosters a culture where curiosity and a diverse range of ideas flourish. This inclusive setting empowers employees to excel while maintaining a healthy work-life balance through flexible working arrangements.

The Infrastructure Operations team is currently seeking experienced Data Center Technicians to join their expanding team. This role is critical to the hands-on physical operation and maintenance of AWS’s data centers, primarily focusing on resolving and troubleshooting a diverse range of infrastructure issues involving hardware, fiber optics, networking, and related technical problems. Data Center Technicians will apply fundamental IT principles including computer architecture and the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair infrastructure issues efficiently and effectively.

As a Data Center Technician, you will be engaged in various physical and technical data center activities, including planning capacity, deploying and decommissioning racks, cabling, as well as hardware and software troubleshooting. This role requires dedication to safety protocols, working comfortably in confined or elevated spaces, and performing physical tasks such as lifting materials up to 40 pounds. You will be expected to stand or walk for extended periods and work shifts that cover 24/7 operations including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Your daily responsibilities will include taking ownership of technical issues reported by AWS customers, coordinating with different teams for problem resolution, and maintaining service level agreements through proactive issue detection. You will need to demonstrate strong problem-solving capabilities, focusing not only on fixing immediate technical issues but understanding their broader implications. This position demands a proactive mindset, the ability to innovate processes, and the willingness to act decisively in fast-paced and dynamic environments.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph due to the sensitive nature of the infrastructure they will protect and maintain. The work environment is fast-paced, dynamic, and requires a high degree of technical acumen, physical stamina, and a commitment to security and operational excellence.

AWS values diverse experiences and encourages applications from candidates who may not meet all preferred qualifications but demonstrate potential and eagerness to learn. The company offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $39 to $68, including sign-on bonuses, restricted stock units (RSUs), and a comprehensive benefits package that supports employees’ health, wellness, financial security, and family needs. Joining AWS means becoming part of a global leader in cloud innovation with opportunities for continuous learning, career advancement, and working alongside top experts in technology and infrastructure management.
