The Entry-Level Hardware Technician role is a contract position based in Fort Collins, Colorado, ideal for candidates seeking to build a foundational career in server hardware, data center operations, or IT infrastructure support. The pay range for this position is between $23.00 and $25.00 per hour. This fully onsite role centers on supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of server and data center hardware within a fast-paced data center environment.

In this role, the technician will perform hands-on hardware support activities, including rack and stack installation of servers and related components, Middle of Rack (MOR) buildouts, as well as staging, routing, and labeling of power and network cables. Troubleshooting duties involve diagnosing and repairing hardware issues, replacing failed components such as drives, memory, and power supplies, conducting power cycles, and performing hardware resets. The technician will also engage in preventative maintenance activities like installing software, firmware, and hardware updates, cleaning fiber optic connections, and assisting with quality control and system validation.

Asset and hardware management is a critical part of the role. The technician will maintain accurate records of hardware assets, perform physical audits of equipment and storage media, process returns and RMAs, and support equipment lifecycle management. Candidates will gain invaluable experience working directly with enterprise-level technology and will contribute to maintaining a highly reliable IT infrastructure.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with computer hardware, servers, or technical equipment
  • Ability to perform physical installation and repair work
  • Basic understanding of networking and hardware diagnostics
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and technical manuals
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities

Job Duties
