Job Description
Our client is a well-established, highly respected organization operating within the business services and commercial construction industry. This medium-sized company is recognized for delivering high-quality, innovative, and dependable construction projects that combine strong technical expertise with a steadfast commitment to excellence in every detail. The organization prides itself on fostering a professional, collaborative, and supportive culture where efficiency, integrity, and craftsmanship serve as core values. Employees benefit from the stability of a mature firm while also enjoying the agility, visibility, and close-knit atmosphere characteristic of a mid-sized team. With direct access to leadership, meaningful project ownership, and a focus on continuous improvement, team members are empowered to grow, contribute, and advance their careers.
The role available is for a Data Center Project Manager, positioned in Columbus, Ohio, with a permanent contract type. The salary range for this position is highly competitive, ranging from $130,000 to $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience and expertise. The Data Center Project Manager will be responsible for managing high-impact, large-scale technology infrastructure projects, specifically focusing on data center developments. This role involves driving innovation within fast-growing data center development teams and overseeing a wide array of project management activities from procurement through project closeout.
The Data Center Project Manager will oversee procurement activities including soliciting bids, reviewing proposals, and selecting qualified subcontractors and suppliers. They will lead onsite project meetings to ensure alignment between construction teams, vendors, and stakeholders, managing Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, and other critical project documentation. The manager will ensure all project deliverables meet quality standards through routine site inspections and strict adherence to specifications while collaborating closely with engineering teams to resolve design issues and enhance constructability.
Key responsibilities also include driving project kickoff and closeout processes to ensure thorough documentation and smooth handoffs, tracking project financials, analyzing cost trends, and proactively reporting any variances. Coordination of equipment and material deliveries is essential to support efficient and uninterrupted construction workflows. The Data Center Project Manager also supports commissioning and turnover processes for data center systems and infrastructure, facilitates communication across disciplines to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and technical requirements, and promotes a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement through all project phases.
This role requires managing vendor performance to ensure contractual obligations are met and assisting in developing project execution plans and construction methodologies uniquely tailored to meet data center requirements. A successful applicant for this position will bring a strong background in construction project management, ideally with experience supporting projects within the business services or commercial construction sectors and a proven ability to navigate complex scopes and stakeholder expectations.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable the Project Manager to coordinate seamlessly with clients, internal teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Proficiency in project management software and digital tools such as Procore, MS Project, and Bluebeam is highly valued, as is a demonstrated commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
This position offers a unique opportunity to advance one’s career within a supportive company culture that centers on high performance, integrity, and excellence. The company offers continuous professional growth and advancement opportunities, generous paid time off, and access to modern technology and resources. Joining this established organization also means gaining the security of a strong project pipeline and working within a leadership team that encourages open communication, collaboration, and innovative thinking. Candidates who are proactive, self-driven, and capable of thriving in a collaborative yet autonomous work environment will find this role particularly rewarding.
