AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, including servers, storage solutions, networking equipment, power management, and cooling systems. The team ensures continuous, reliable access to cloud services for millions of customers worldwide, ranging from startups to large enterprises. AWS prides itself on tackling some of the industry's toughest challenges, managing thousands of variables that impact its global supply chain and infrastructure health. By joining AWS, employees become part of a diverse and innovative team that includes software engineers, hardware specialists, supply chain experts, security professionals, and operations managers working together to uphold AWS's high standards of safety, security, and cost efficiency.
This role specifically focuses on managing a team responsible for maintaining cloud infrastructure within AWS data centers. The candidate will be involved in overseeing data center operations, which encompasses hardware and network diagnostics, repair activities, and ensuring the implementation of best practices aligned with service level agreements. The position includes responsibilities such as leading a team of data center technicians and operators, mentoring and developing talent, devising operations strategies, and participating in an on-call rotation to address urgent operational needs. The role demands a strong technical foundation, excellent people management skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in processes, technology, and automation.
AWS is seeking candidates with a strong background in IT and experience managing mission-critical data center operations or analogous production facilities. The successful candidate will work across multiple data center locations and will need to handle event management, including outage coordination, and workflow optimization on a large scale. AWS values innovation and customer obsession, so the manager will also focus on improving the quality and quantity of services delivered to internal and external customers, fostering an inclusive culture that empowers employees to contribute boldly and take ownership of their projects.
Operating at AWS means collaborating with a broad variety of roles to maintain and enhance the complex infrastructure that powers AWS's cloud services globally. The employment is full-time based in Sparks, NV, with a competitive salary range of $78,400 to $137,300 annually. The compensation package also includes sign-on bonuses, restricted stock units (RSUs), and comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and more. Employees are expected to travel or commute to data center sites as required, and flexibility to work at alternative locations during training or operational transitions is also needed.
Joining AWS means becoming part of a company that not only supports technical innovation but also emphasizes workplace diversity, inclusion, and employee development. This management role offers an exciting opportunity for technology professionals passionate about data center operations, infrastructure management, and leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced, global environment.
