Job Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world leader in cloud computing, providing a comprehensive and broadly adopted platform that powers businesses from innovative startups to Global 500 companies. With a commitment to continuous innovation, AWS designs, plans, delivers, and operates a global infrastructure that supports the most demanding cloud services across the world. The AWS Infrastructure Services team ensures the resiliency, reliability, and performance of this infrastructure, which includes data centers and vital electrical and mechanical systems. This team comprises a diverse group of experts—software engineers, hardware specialists, network engineers, security professionals, supply chain analysts, and operations managers—all working together to maintain the cloud's seamless operation. Amazon's culture encourages bold ideas, diversity, inclusion, career growth, and a balanced work-life harmony where employees are empowered and supported to achieve their highest potential.

The Data Center Facility Manager at Amazon is a pivotal technical leader responsible for ensuring the heartbeat of the company’s global infrastructure remains strong and resilient. In this hands-on role, the manager is the primary guardian of mission-critical data center operations, playing a central role in the maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of essential electrical and mechanical equipment. The scope of responsibility includes managing diesel generators, fuel systems, three-phase electrical systems like switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power distribution units (PDUs), wet cell batteries, computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water chemical treatment systems, air handlers, pumps, motors, fire suppression systems, building automation, and more.

This position requires oversight of all physical infrastructure critical to data center uptime, ensuring operations exceed availability service levels and maintain high-quality standards without disruption to internal or external customers. The manager leads and supervises an on-site team of 24x7 shift technicians, contractors, and vendors, driving safety, compliance, efficiency, and a positive team culture. Responsibilities extend to hiring, mentoring, and developing team members, fostering a healthy work environment, managing budgets, and championing continuous improvement projects.

The Data Center Facility Manager plays an escalation role for all facilities-related matters, driving root cause analyses, emergency response readiness, and contributing to new facility build-outs and existing site efficiency enhancements. This leadership role demands a blend of technical expertise, operational acumen, and strong interpersonal skills to coordinate across teams and stakeholders effectively. Working at AWS means being part of an inclusive environment that values diverse experiences and encourages applicants from varied backgrounds, promoting innovation powered by collaboration. Amazon offers competitive compensation packages, including sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units, plus comprehensive benefits that support employee well-being, career growth, and work-life balance. Location for this role is in Sparks, Nevada, with a salary range of $129,200 to $193,000 annually, reflecting the seniority and importance of this position in maintaining AWS’s world-class cloud infrastructure.
