Job Description

Mayo Clinic is a world-renowned healthcare institution that consistently ranks top in more medical specialties than any other care provider in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report. Known for its commitment to patient-centered care, the Mayo Clinic brings together some of the most renowned specialists, researchers, and medical professionals in a collaborative environment designed to improve health outcomes and advance medical knowledge. The institution operates major campuses in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona, Jacksonville, Florida, and Rochester, Minnesota, in addition to serving communities through the Mayo Clinic Health System across the Midwest and other international locations. This extensive network allows employees to contribute to healthcare at multiple levels and in diverse settings.

Mayo Clinic not only prioritizes exceptional care for patients but also invests deeply in its workforce, offering competitive compensation packages and comprehensive benefits designed to support employees and their families both immediately and in the future. This commitment is bolstered by continuous professional development opportunities, including continuing education and career advancement paths that enable long-term professional growth and fulfillment within the organization.

This role is for a Cytotechnologist who will be a vital part of the cellular pathology team, responsible for screening and reporting on gynecological and non-gynecological cytology cases, differentiating between normal and abnormal cell samples. The position involves close collaboration with pathologists by referring cases identified as abnormal for further examination. Moreover, the Cytotechnologist will be expected to engage in quality control activities and support the training and evaluation of cytotechnology students, fostering the next generation of specialists.

Additional responsibilities include the assistance with digital image analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) techniques, and tissue review. The incumbent will contribute to the Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) Team, providing onsite adequacy evaluations during FNA procedures. This role also requires offering technical guidance to preparation and processing teams during short staffing and supporting quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.

The position demands a commitment of at least two years before an individual becomes eligible to transfer to other roles within Mayo Clinic. Candidates must possess necessary certifications and pass a skills assessment test during the interview process. The position does not sponsor visas and is not eligible for sponsorship or transfer of visas, nor does it participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

The work schedule is full-time, with typical hours from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including varied start times, and includes rotating Sunday coverage from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Compensation ranges from $35.45 to $53.15 per hour, and the position is benefits eligible.

This is an opportunity to build a lasting career within one of the most respected health systems globally, where employees are valued for their expertise, dedication, and teamwork in delivering top-quality patient care.
