Job Description

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and empowering wounded veterans by providing programs and services designed to foster recovery, rehabilitation, and long-term well-being. Founded with a commitment to giving back to those who have sacrificed for our nation, WWP offers a wide range of initiatives that support veterans and their families through physical and emotional healing, community engagement, and advocacy efforts. With a vibrant workplace culture that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and continuous learning, WWP strives to create a collaborative environment where every teammate plays a crucial role in advancing its mission. The organization not only focuses on impactful veteran support but also prioritizes employee growth and satisfaction, offering competitive pay, comprehensive health benefits, and a flexible hybrid work schedule that includes three days in the office and two days working remotely.

The role of Soldier Ride Specialist at Wounded Warrior Project involves planning and facilitating Soldier Ride events, which are all-ability cycling experiences designed to bring warriors together through adaptive and standard equipment. These events range from single-day rides to multi-day excursions, encouraging camaraderie, physical activity, and personal growth. This position requires a blend of event planning, community engagement, coaching, and logistical coordination to deliver seamless, meaningful experiences for veterans and community participants. The Soldier Ride Specialist collaborates with internal teams such as Travel and Events, as well as external partners including vendors, law enforcement, and community supporters to ensure every ride runs smoothly from start to finish. Responsibilities include recruiting riders, coordinating travel and lodging, managing equipment logistics, and serving as the primary point of contact for warriors, ensuring their needs are met and their experience is exceptional.

Additionally, the Specialist acts as a subject matter expert in cycling and adaptive equipment, providing coaching and instruction in various modalities including road cycling, mountain biking, skiing, and snowboarding to help warriors develop skills and confidence. The role also involves facilitating virtual programming through digital platforms, building strong relationships within event cities, and maintaining active communication with partners and participants. This position demands intermediate-level fitness and cycling skills, strong organizational and interpersonal abilities, and a passion for supporting the veteran community. Travel of up to 50% is expected as part of the role to onsite events and programs.

WWP is deeply committed to diversity and inclusion, creating a culture where all teammates feel valued and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. The organization offers a dynamic work environment that balances outdoor activities and event execution with administrative tasks and virtual engagement. Teammates benefit from ongoing training, professional development opportunities, and a mission-focused atmosphere that inspires meaningful contributions. With an emphasis on respect, empathy, and high ethical standards, the Soldier Ride Specialist position provides an opportunity to be part of a dedicated team making a tangible difference in the lives of injured veterans and their communities. Those who have a passion for veteran support, community service, and outdoor sports will find this role fulfilling and impactful.
