Job Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of related experience in customs entry writing or freight forwarding
- Proficiency in U.S. Customs regulations and export/import laws
- Familiarity with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification
- Experience using Automated Broker Interface (ABI) systems and related software
- Strong knowledge of compliance requirements for FDA, USDA, EPA, and other agencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work efficiently
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Customs Entry Writer or similar role within a freight forwarding or customs brokerage environment
- Proficient in U.S. Customs procedures and HTS classification
- Experience with ABI software (e.g., Descartes, WiseTech, etc.)
- Strong understanding of compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Customs Broker License is a plus but not required
Job Duties
- Prepare and process import documentation in accordance with U.S. Customs regulations
- Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
- Work closely with clients, customs brokers, carriers, and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate customs clearance
- Submit entries through the Automated Broker Interface (ABI) and monitor entry status
- Ensure compliance with all relevant government agencies (FDA, USDA, EPA, etc.)
- Resolve shipment holds, customs exams, and other issues promptly
- Maintain and update client profiles and ensure required documentation is on file
- Stay up to date with changes in customs regulations and industry best practices
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to clients throughout the import process
