As a Customer Specialist, you will serve as a trusted guide for customers throughout their entire car-buying or selling journey. Your primary focus will be to provide exceptional service that ensures transparency and ease at every stage. You will assist customers by facilitating appraisals, conducting test drives, managing paperwork, and coordinating repair orders, all while maintaining clear communication and integrity. This role is dynamic and autonomous, offering the opportunity to collaborate across multiple teams and departments, enabling you to make a meaningful impact on every customer interaction.

Your responsibilities will include delivering an outstanding customer experience by guiding sales, appraisals, and financing applications; performing accurate vehicle condition assessments; managing inventory processes like vehicle check-in and daily scanning; conducting cosmetic inspections to meet CarMax’s quality standards; handling various administrative tasks including report printing and transaction paperwork; and coordinating with service teams on repair orders and billing. Moreover, you will ensure compliance with CarMax’s Environmental, Health and Safety standards and help maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • ability to accurately read and transcribe data

  • basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred

Job Duties

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by guiding customers through sales, appraisals, test drives, and financing applications

  • coordinate service appointments, review repair order invoices for accuracy in billing, and collaborate effectively across teams to maintain a smooth, customer-focused experience
  • follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area
