Job Description

R1 is a leading provider of technology-driven solutions focused on transforming the patient experience and financial performance of hospitals, health systems, and medical groups. With a global workforce of revenue cycle professionals and the industry’s most advanced technology platform, R1 combines sophisticated analytics, AI, intelligent automation, and workflow orchestration to improve operational efficiency and enhance patient care quality. The company’s commitment to innovation and excellence positions it as a trusted partner in the healthcare sector, supporting healthcare providers every step of the way to optimize revenue cycles and streamline patient access processes.

R1 currently has an exciting opportunity at Ascension Seton Hays in Kyle, TX, for a Customer Service, Patient Access Representative II. This role operates from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, offering a competitive pay range between $17.60 and $25.25 per hour, contingent on role, experience, skills, and education. As a vital part of the front line in healthcare customer service, the Patient Access Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring they receive fast, compassionate, and accurate access to care. This role is much more than patient registration; it plays a critical role in shaping patient experiences and supporting hospital operations and revenue cycle success.

In this role, you will manage the check-in process efficiently by working across multiple computer systems and deliver outstanding customer service to patients and their families. You will answer phones, gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment, and support timely access to care by minimizing registration delays. Your ability to build trust with patients during stressful moments when they may be ill, anxious, or overwhelmed will be paramount. Additional responsibilities include navigating insurance plans and coverage details, entering demographic and medical data, collecting co-pays, providing cost estimates, and collaborating closely with nurses, physicians, and care teams to ensure smooth patient flow.

R1 is dedicated to training and development, making this an excellent entry-level opportunity for anyone interested in launching a healthcare career. The company values diversity, equal employment opportunity, and a harassment-free workplace, offering reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. As part of the R1 team, you will gain hands-on experience in healthcare administration, exposure to revenue cycle management, insurance processes, and hospital operations, all within a supportive and innovative environment. The role promises a fast-paced, never boring workday where you’ll balance compassion with accuracy, backed by a team invested in your professional growth and success. This position is ideal for candidates seeking meaningful work that makes a difference during urgent and emotional patient moments, with ample opportunities for career advancement within R1.
