Job Description

U-Haul is a well-established company renowned for its contributions to the do-it-yourself moving industry since its inception in 1945. Founded by L.S. "Sam" Shoen and his wife, Anna Mary Carty Shoen, U-Haul originated to meet the widespread post-World War II demand for affordable, one-way moving equipment for households and businesses across the United States and Canada. The company revolutionized the concept of moving by providing accessible and cost-effective solutions that enabled the mobility of millions of people. Today, U-Haul Holding Company and its family of companies continue to uphold a culture of health, wellness, and innovation, all while providing exceptional equipment rental services.

As a Customer Service Representative/Lot Attendant at U-Haul, you will play a pivotal role in the customer experience, acting as the friendly and knowledgeable face of the company. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping others and thrive in interactive environments. The role demands a blend of customer service excellence, technical skill, and physical activity. It offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience with U-Haul's industry-standard equipment and technology, such as the smartphone-based U-Scan system used for managing rentals and inventory.

This is an hourly-paid, part-time to full-time role with a competitive wage of $16 per hour. U-Haul immediately supports its new hires with a quick hiring process, hands-on working interviews, and prompt pay. New employees also benefit from a $100 hiring bonus and a $300 cash bonus upon successful completion of the U-Haul Equipment Inspection and Verification program through U-Haul's 1-2-3 Punch Certification at retail stores.

Customer Service Representatives at U-Haul are not only tasked with assisting customers and facilitating rentals but also with maintaining and inspecting equipment to ensure safety and operational standards. Responsibilities include moving and hooking up U-Haul trucks and trailers, installing hitches and trailer wiring, cleaning the lot, filling propane tanks (with certification provided), and operating forklifts. Ongoing education and professional growth are encouraged through U-Haul University, where employees can continue to enhance their skills and advance in their careers.

Beyond a fulfilling work environment, U-Haul offers extensive benefits, including career stability, opportunities for advancement, reimbursement programs for wellness and learning tools, health and prescription plans, paid holidays and sick leave, life insurance, legal and travel insurance, and discounts on technology products and services. The company fosters inclusivity and equality in its hiring and employment practices, ensuring a respectful workplace free from discrimination. U-Haul's commitment to both employee welfare and customer satisfaction makes this position an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking meaningful work with a trusted industry leader.
