Job Description
U-Haul Holding Company is a well-established leader in the moving and storage industry, known across the United States and Canada for its innovative do-it-yourself moving solutions. Founded in 1945 by L.S. "Sam" Shoen and Anna Mary Carty Shoen, U-Haul has grown from a small concept into a nationwide brand that provides reliable moving equipment accessible on a one-way rental basis. The company’s commitment to supporting the mobility of millions of households has made it a trusted choice for customers seeking rental trucks, trailers, and moving supplies. With a strong focus on customer service and continuous improvement, U-Haul operates a culture that values health, wellness, and employee development. The company employs a diverse workforce committed to delivering exceptional service while fostering career growth and stability for its team members.
The Customer Service Representative/Lot Attendant (Bilingual) role at U-Haul is an essential frontline position responsible for enhancing the customer experience by providing knowledgeable assistance and support. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy engaging with people, problem-solving, and working as part of a team. The position requires inspecting and maintaining U-Haul rental equipment to ensure it meets safety and functionality standards, assisting customers with product and service inquiries, and using modern technology such as the smartphone-based U-Scan system for rental and inventory management.
This role offers hands-on learning through scheduled working interviews that allow candidates to earn while they learn, exemplifying the company motto, 'Hire Fast, Pay Fast.' New employees also receive a generous $100 hiring bonus, and upon successful completion of the U-Haul Equipment Inspection and Verification certification, a $300 cash bonus is awarded. The work is dynamic and involves both indoor and outdoor tasks including moving and hooking up rental trucks and trailers, cleaning and inspecting vehicles, and performing maintenance activities such as fluid checks. Additional responsibilities may include installing trailer hitches and wiring, filling propane tanks with certification provided by U-Haul, and operating a forklift with training and certification available upon hire.
U-Haul supports employee growth through ongoing education via U-Haul University, allowing employees to enhance their skills continually. This position is ideal for individuals who appreciate a structured yet flexible work environment where safety and customer satisfaction are prioritized. The company excels in fostering employee wellness with a comprehensive benefits package including health and prescription plan eligibility, paid time off, life insurance, legal assistance programs, and discounts on popular technology and services. Opportunities for advancement and career stability make this an appealing choice for applicants seeking a fulfilling role in a customer-focused industry.
This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record, reflecting the necessity for safe vehicle operation in day-to-day duties. The physical demands include tasks such as moving equipment weighing 50 pounds or more, prolonged standing and walking indoors and outdoors, and working around moving machinery that requires adherence to safety protocols. U-Haul is an equal opportunity employer offering accommodations through every stage of the selection process. Pay ranges from $14.00 to $15.00 per hour and the role is based on-site at U-Haul locations, involving direct customer interaction and teamwork.
