Job Description

U-Haul is a well-established company specializing in do-it-yourself moving equipment and services since 1945. Founded by L.S. "Sam" Shoen and Anna Mary Carty Shoen, U-Haul has grown to become a leading provider of moving and storage solutions across the United States and Canada. The company's mission has always been to facilitate the mobility of people by providing affordable, convenient, and reliable equipment rentals on a nationwide basis. U-Haul's iconic orange trailers symbolize the spirit of American pioneering and self-reliance when it comes to moving and transportation needs.

U-Haul Holding Company and its family of companies have built a strong reputation for exceptional customer service, innovative technology, and a commitment to safety and wellness. The company has also implemented a nicotine-free workplace policy in many states to support the health and well-being of its employees. U-Haul offers a diverse and inclusive work environment with equal opportunity employment and accommodations for applicants throughout the hiring process.

The role of Customer Service Representative/Lot Attendant at U-Haul is an exciting opportunity to become the face of U-Haul’s outstanding service culture. This position involves direct interaction with customers, assisting them with U-Haul products and services, and ensuring the quality and readiness of rental equipment. Customers will rely on the Customer Service Representative for knowledgeable guidance, equipment maintenance, and personalized service to help them successfully navigate their moving journeys.

This position offers hands-on job training with an emphasis on continuous learning through U-Haul University. The representative will utilize modern smartphone technology to manage rental transactions, inventory, and dispatch activities efficiently. They will also be responsible for inspecting and maintaining rental equipment, including performing fluid checks, cleaning, hitch installation, and trailer wiring. Certifications for propane filling and forklift operation are provided to enhance skills and job versatility.

U-Haul is committed to rewarding its employees quickly with their "Hire Fast, Pay Fast" philosophy, allowing new hires to earn pay for their interviews and offering substantial hiring bonuses. For instance, there is a $100 hiring bonus available immediately, along with a $300 cash bonus upon completion of the Equipment Inspection and Verification certification program. With a pay range of $17.13 to $19 per hour, this role combines competitive compensation with robust benefits, career advancement opportunities, and a supportive work atmosphere.

Safety is a priority for the position, given the nature of the work involving moving equipment, working outdoors, and handling potentially hazardous materials. Employees are expected to follow safety protocols diligently, including the use of protective gear when necessary. Physical demands require the ability to handle equipment weighing a minimum of 50 pounds, work both indoors and outdoors, and maintain an active and alert presence throughout the shift.

Overall, working as a Customer Service Representative/Lot Attendant at U-Haul offers a dynamic, customer-focused role within a trusted brand that values employee well-being, professional development, and community engagement. It is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people, are detail-oriented, and are eager to contribute to a team-oriented environment while advancing their careers in the moving and storage industry.
