Job Description

Mechanics Bank is a well-established financial institution committed to fostering strong connections, partnerships, and long-term relationships with its clients and communities. Known for its customer-centric approach and emphasis on in-person collaboration, Mechanics Bank has positioned itself as a trusted name in banking services, offering a wide range of products to meet the diverse needs of individuals and businesses alike. With branches strategically located, such as the Kahala Branch, the bank ensures accessible, personalized service to its customers. The company places great value on employee engagement, professional growth, and providing a supportive work environment where teamwork and integrity are prioritized.

The role of Customer Service Representative III at Mechanics Bank’s Kahala Branch is a full-time position that plays a critical part in the bank’s customer acquisition, retention, and expansion efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service by guiding customers through their banking journey—from initial introduction and profiling, to assessing their banking and borrowing needs, and recommending suitable products. This role demands thorough knowledge of Mechanics Bank’s products and services, and the ability to handle a variety of teller services including deposits, withdrawals, account maintenance, and processing financial transactions. The Customer Service Representative III is expected to take ownership of the customer experience, ensuring that each interaction upholds the bank’s standards of excellence.

Key aspects of this role include performing complex transactional tasks such as changes in account ownership, handling living trusts, and managing estate assignments. The representative also acts as a customer advocate during the origination of consumer loans, ensuring efficient processing. Account management responsibilities encompass opening and closing accounts such as checking, savings, money markets, certificates of deposit, and IRAs. The candidate must actively pursue sales opportunities by cross-selling banking products and services, making appropriate referrals to other business units, and participating in sales programs to generate new customer relationships. Achieving referral goals and meeting performance evaluation standards are also essential components of this role.

Additionally, the position involves setting an example for other customer service professionals in the branch by maintaining a positive, professional demeanor and applying conflict resolution techniques to handle difficult situations thoughtfully. The Customer Service Representative III supports lobby management, participates in community events, and consistently demonstrates proficiency in delivering service with the values embodied in the STAR qualities—Seamless, Trustworthy, Attentive, and Resourceful. Teller activities include managing daily transactions such as wire transfers, cash advances, stop payments, and loan payments while accurately balancing cash drawers and maintaining compliance with the bank’s policies.

Operational responsibilities include participating in branch audits, complying with regulatory requirements, and assisting in various projects and branch operations. The role requires a minimum of three years of experience as a Customer Service Representative or New Accounts Representative, combined with a strong operational background in banking or retail. Proficiency with teller software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and related computer programs is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong customer relations skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to handle confidential information effectively. Excellent communication skills, quick and accurate decision-making abilities, and the capability to work under pressure complete the profile of an ideal candidate.

The pay range for this role is $22.00 to $27.00 per hour, and the position is eligible for a Retail Incentive Plan. Employees working 25 hours or more per week enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that supports their well-being both professionally and personally. This includes health, dental, vision coverage, life insurance, disability benefits, and more. Mechanics Bank is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to diversity and inclusion, ensuring fair consideration for all qualified candidates regardless of race, sex, sexual orientation, or other protected status. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to advance their career in a supportive and dynamic banking environment.
