The role offered is a Customer Service Associate position at G&M, focused on delivering exceptional customer service and operating within the company’s safety guidelines and operational procedures. The associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks ranging from conducting sales transactions, operating POS systems, and adhering to safety regulations to maintaining store cleanliness and food preparation responsibilities. In this role, the associate will ensure a secure and orderly work environment by following company policies and legal regulations concerning age-restricted products like tobacco and alcohol. They will also manage transactions involving credit cards, coupons, fast food items, and lottery sales. The associate’s responsibilities extend beyond sales processing to include maintaining the store’s presentation through regular cleaning, product stocking, and inventory inspection to guarantee freshness and availability. Food handling duties such as brewing coffee, preparing hot foods, and maintaining condiment stations are integral components of the job, requiring conscientiousness and adherence to health standards.

Safety and cleanliness are paramount; hence, associates must perform routine inspections of restrooms, floors, and store areas, ensuring all equipment functions correctly and the environment remains sanitized. The role also involves physical tasks like lifting merchandise, organizing backroom supplies, and managing product deliveries using proper ergonomics. This physically demanding position necessitates the ability to stand and walk for entire shifts and handle weights up to 50 pounds safely.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must possess excellent computer skills and competency in PDI Enterprise POS
  • Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to learn simple tasks quickly and work independently
  • Basic math skills required
  • Must hold a Food Handlers Permit if required by store or county
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English
  • Must have open availability to work all shifts at home store and district locations when needed

Job Duties

  • Take measures to preserve the safety of employees and all others in the work location
  • Conduct sales transactions accurately and quickly
  • Enter all transactions into the register, accept payments and account for all funds
  • Operate POS precisely and accurately handle money and other types of payment for product sold
  • Perform service transactions in accordance with company policy including credit card transactions, coupon redemption, vendor check-in, alcohol, tobacco and lottery sales, and fast food sales
  • Check identification for restricted products according to company policy
  • Actively participate in sales promotions, practice suggestive selling and build customer relations
  • Review and adhere to all city, county, state, and federal laws affecting store operations
  • Maintain a neat personal appearance and wear company uniform and name tag
  • Prepare hot food items as designated by Store Manager
  • Ensure store cleanliness, free of litter and spills, and equipment sanitation
  • Sweep floors and mop as needed
  • Wipe down Fuel Delivery area, pumps, and change outside water/trash
  • Spot check and restock restrooms
  • Perform regular cleaning of counter surfaces, store equipment, trash and floors
  • Front face cooler and Hydrazone as well as dust merchandise
  • Clean all station windows
  • Straighten and organize backroom supplies and equipment
  • Receive and stock product deliveries using proper lift techniques
  • Wipe down counters, food warmers, microwaves and keep trays clean
  • Conduct daily inspections of perishable products for freshness and rotation
  • Follow company policy on robbery, violence prevention, and safety
  • Live and exemplify G&Ms Core Values
  • Act as back up cashier during Barista shifts
  • Brew fresh coffee every 2 hours and maintain condiment bar
  • Perform night shift cleaning duties including restrooms and equipment sanitation
  • Be prepared to perform all other duties as assigned by Store Manager
