Job Description
Chevron Stations Inc (CSI) is a dynamic retail company specializing in the sale of gasoline and convenience products at its network of retail stations. Known for its commitment to safety, teamwork, and a positive work environment, CSI has established itself as a leader in providing exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards of operation in the retail fuel industry. The company operates various locations, including the station at 9025 SW Barbur Blvd, Portland, OR, 97219, where it seeks dedicated individuals to join its team. CSI prides itself on its core values, "People First, Excellence Always," which guide the company's daily operations and employee engagement.
The role available at CSI is designed for hardworking, self-motivated individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments while maintaining a strong customer focus and adherence to safety protocols. The position offers full-time and part-time shifts with competitive compensation ranging from $17.75 to $18.75 per hour, reflecting the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications. As an equal opportunity employer, CSI values diversity and inclusion, offering accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities.
In this position, employees are expected to maintain professional and courteous interactions with coworkers, customers, vendors, and the community. Maintaining a neat appearance and good personal hygiene in line with CSI’s image standards is essential. Employees support and follow established safety, security, and quality guidelines, including reporting incidents immediately to management. A critical component of the job involves ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards, adhering to county regulations for food handling, preparation, storage, and disposal. Employees must also comply with federal laws regarding the sale of age-restricted products, working professionally with vendors and contractors.
Key responsibilities include delivering exceptional guest service by greeting and thanking customers respectfully, conducting point-of-sale transactions accurately and safely, and maintaining cash drawer integrity through proper reconciliation. Facility cleanliness is a continuous priority, involving indoor and outdoor station areas, including restrooms, fuel islands, pumps, and car wash facilities when applicable. Employees prepare food and beverages, manage foodservice inventory effectively to maximize sales and minimize losses, and promote store specials and marketing programs actively.
Additional duties involve verifying the accuracy of delivered goods, stocking shelves in retail and cooler locations diligently, and adhering to local laws for fueling vehicles in Oregon. The role requires physical stamina with the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, perform lifting and bending tasks using proper techniques, and work safely around high-temperature equipment with appropriate personal protective equipment. Exposure to outdoor conditions and cold storage environments is part of the daily work setting.
CSI expects regular and punctual attendance and values employees who can handle challenging situations professionally, exercise good judgment, and work independently or as part of a team. Employees must be proficient in English to understand policies and communicate effectively and possess up-to-date food handling certificates where applicable. Experience in cooking or restaurant settings is preferred but not mandatory.
This non-supervisory position offers rare travel opportunities limited to training and nearby station coverage. Age restrictions apply based on location and shift timing, ensuring compliance with state laws. The company's benefits package includes health and wellness options, shift differentials, educational reimbursement, management bonuses, loyalty programs, and commuter benefits, reflecting CSI’s commitment to supporting its workforce comprehensively. Overall, this opportunity at Chevron Stations Inc represents a rewarding career path for motivated individuals eager to contribute to a reputable company in the retail fuel and convenience sector.
