Job Description
U-Haul is a well-established and reputable company that has been serving the needs of do-it-yourself movers since its inception in 1945. Founded by L.S. 'Sam' Shoen and Anna Mary Carty Shoen, U-Haul revolutionized the moving industry by providing affordable, reliable, and widespread access to moving equipment on a one-way, nationwide basis. This visionary approach allowed countless households across the United States and Canada to move with ease and efficiency, effectively transforming the concept of personal mobility by making moving tools accessible to the general public. As a leader in the moving and storage industry, U-Haul operates through a family of companies committed to providing excellent customer service, innovative moving solutions, and fostering a culture of health and wellness within its workforce.
The position of Customer Service Representative at U-Haul is a vital role that demands a friendly, motivated individual who thrives on assisting others. This role involves being the welcoming face of U-Haul, providing exceptional support and service to customers both inside and outside of the U-Haul centers. Customer Service Representatives use the latest technology, such as smartphone-based U-Scan systems, to manage rental inventory and dispatch equipment effectively. They are responsible for inspecting and maintaining moving equipment, including cleaning, checking fluid levels, and securing safety installations like hitches and trailer wiring. Additionally, this position offers hands-on working interviews and provides paid opportunities to gain essential operational skills including forklift operation and propane filling, with certifications offered upon employment. The role promotes continuous education through U-Haul University to ensure representatives maintain a thorough understanding of company products and services.
This position offers a competitive starting wage from $17.00 per hour and incentives such as a $100 hiring bonus and a $300 cash bonus upon completion of specific certification programs. U-Haul supports career growth with opportunities for advancement and offers various benefits including health insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, and wellness reimbursements. The physical demands of the job require individuals to have a valid driver’s license and the ability to safely operate company equipment, handle moderate physical exertion, and follow safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment. U-Haul upholds a policy of equal opportunity employment and encourages applicants with diverse backgrounds, including those with criminal records, to apply. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about customer interaction, technical operational tasks, and being part of a respected company with a longstanding commitment to community and workforce well-being.
