Job Description
U-Haul is a well-established company that has been serving do-it-yourself movers and their households since 1945. It was founded by L.S. "Sam" Shoen and his wife Anna Mary Carty Shoen out of a recognized need for convenient, one-way, nationwide moving equipment following World War II. The company has grown significantly, offering innovative products and services that have revolutionized the moving industry across the U.S. and Canada. Their approach to sharing the cost of ownership among multiple users allowed mobility and accessibility to many, transforming the concept of moving from traditional means to the modern, branded U-Haul trailers and trucks. U-Haul Holding Company and its affiliated companies emphasize a culture of health and wellness among their workforce and maintain policies consistent with legal standards regarding the hiring of nicotine product users in applicable states.
The Customer Service Representative at U-Haul plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional support and service to customers. This position is designed for people-oriented individuals who enjoy assisting others and are motivated to contribute positively to a supportive team environment. In this role, the representative is the face of U-Haul, tasked with engaging customers both inside and outside the U-Haul center. Responsibilities include assisting customers with U-Haul products and services, using modern smartphone-based technology to dispatch and track equipment, moving and hooking up trucks and trailers, and performing inspections and maintenance such as checking fluid levels. Other duties include preparing rental invoices, installing hitches and trailer wiring, and managing propane refills and forklift operations, with training and certification provided upon employment.
U-Haul offers paid, hands-on working interviews, a $100 hiring bonus, and an additional $300 cash bonus after completing a certification program related to equipment inspection and verification. Employee benefits include career stability, advancement opportunities, reimbursement programs for apps and gym memberships, health and prescription plans, paid time off, life insurance, legal programs, auto and home insurance, product discounts, retirement savings plans, stock ownership, dental and vision plans, travel insurance, employee assistance programs, identity theft protection, and financial wellness programs. U-Haul is an equal opportunity employer that welcomes applications from all individuals, including those with criminal records, and provides accommodations throughout the hiring process. The work environment includes safety precautions for moderate risks and physical demands such as moving equipment and working indoors and outdoors. This position offers flexible schedules and employee discounts, providing a supportive and rewarding work experience. The pay starts at $17.00 per hour, with opportunities to start and get paid immediately upon hiring.
