Job Description

U-Haul is a well-established company that has been serving the moving and storage industry since 1945. Founded by L.S. "Sam" Shoen and his wife Anna Mary Carty Shoen, U-Haul pioneered the concept of do-it-yourself moving equipment available on a one-way, nationwide basis across the United States and Canada. Over the decades, U-Haul has grown into a trusted household name, offering a wide range of moving products and services including truck and trailer rentals, storage solutions, and moving supplies. The company is recognized for its commitment to customer service, innovation, and providing practical solutions that facilitate the mobility of hundreds of thousands of customers annually. With its vast network of rental locations and dedicated employees, U-Haul continues to be a driving force in supporting the needs of do-it-yourself movers while contributing positively to community health and wellness cultures.

The role of a Customer Service Representative at U-Haul is integral to maintaining the company’s exceptional reputation. As a member of the customer service team, you will be the welcoming face and helping hand for customers, assisting them with U-Haul products and services in a friendly and knowledgeable manner. This job entails working closely with customers both inside the rental center and in outdoor environments, ensuring that equipment such as trucks, trailers, and moving supplies are inspected, maintained, and ready for use. The role involves frequent use of cutting-edge technology, including smartphone-based U-Scan software to manage rentals and inventory efficiently. This position offers hands-on learning through U-Haul University, providing valuable on-the-job education to develop and enhance professional skills. Employees are also offered certifications in specific areas such as propane filling and forklift operation, further expanding their expertise and value within the company.

This part-time position primarily covers weekend shifts, typically from Friday to Sunday for 16 to 24 hours per week, making it an ideal role for individuals seeking flexible work hours. The hourly pay ranges from $16.90 to $18.90, reflecting U-Haul’s commitment to offering competitive compensation for motivated and dependable team members. U-Haul values a safe and healthy workplace, requiring employees to use personal protective equipment when necessary and to handle tasks that may involve physical exertion, such as moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The company also emphasizes a respectful and inclusive work environment, offering equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or disability.

Working as a Customer Service Representative with U-Haul offers numerous benefits beyond competitive pay. Team members have access to health, dental, and vision insurance plans where eligible, paid holidays, vacations, and sick leave, life and business travel insurance, and participation in a 401(k) savings plan and an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). Additional perks include reimbursement programs for gym memberships and apps that support personal development and wellness, discounts on technology products and services, legal assistance, and identity theft protection. The company fosters a supportive culture that encourages continuous learning and professional growth, making it an excellent opportunity for those who enjoy helping others, value team collaboration, and seek a career within a stable and reputable organization.
