The role being offered is for a Customer Service Representative who will be an integral part of Mechanics Bank’s branch operations. This is a full-time, on-site position that requires direct interaction with customers, delivering high-quality banking services while adhering strictly to established policies and procedures. The position offers a pay range between $20.00 and $25.00 per hour and is eligible for the Retail Incentive Plan. The role primarily involves processing basic to moderately complex banking transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, payments, and account maintenance activities. This position demands attention to detail, accuracy in handling cash, and compliance with banking regulations including anti-money laundering and Bank Secrecy Act programs.

The Customer Service Representative serves as the frontline liaison between the bank and its customers, providing exemplary customer service both in person and over the phone. Key responsibilities include handling routine teller transactions promptly while maintaining security and customer confidentiality, responding to customer inquiries efficiently, and making referrals to other banking products and services when appropriate. The role also involves educating customers on the bank’s technology offerings including online and mobile banking platforms, thereby enhancing their banking experience.

Additionally, this position requires the individual to perform cash handling duties reliably, balancing cash supplies at the end of shifts, and identifying potential fraudulent activities or criminal scams. The representative also supports administrative and compliance functions by gathering data, preparing various reports, and assisting with branch audit activities as needed. The job requires some occasional travel within the range of 0-10%.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year of banking experience with a good understanding of deposit products and excellent customer service and cash handling skills. Educationally, a high school diploma or GED is required, with the possibility of considering additional experience in lieu of formal education. The role demands strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team. Candidates should be adept at making decisions based on available information and be knowledgeable about bank policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Performs routine teller transactions including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, and transfers
  • Works quickly to service customers while maintaining attention to detail and compliance
  • Assists customers with account maintenance such as reconciliations, statement copies, stop payments, and debit card services
  • Provides exemplary customer service in person and over the phone
  • Educates customers about mobile and online banking technology
  • Maintains and balances cash supply for transactions performed
  • Identifies and refers potential fraud or suspicious activities to management
  • Gathers data and processes reports for compliance with banking policies
  • Assists with branch audit functions as requested
  • Completes required compliance tasks by assigned due dates
