The bank emphasizes the importance of working together in person to create meaningful relationships that support financial growth and stability. Known for its comprehensive range of deposit products, loans, and other banking services, Mechanics Bank operates with integrity and a customer-first approach, which has earned it a loyal customer base and a reputation for exceptional financial services.
Mechanics Bank is currently seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Customer Service Representative to join their team onsite. This role is crucial as it involves direct interaction with customers, providing basic to moderately complex banking services while maintaining compliance with all banking regulations. As a Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for processing transactions accurately, resolving customer inquiries efficiently, and performing essential account maintenance. The role demands attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
This is an hourly position with a pay range of $20.00 to $25.00 per hour, along with eligibility for the Retail Incentive Plan. Mechanics Bank offers a comprehensive employee benefits program designed to support employees’ best life at work and beyond. Employees who work 25 hours or more per week are eligible for health benefits that begin the first day of the month following or coinciding with their hire date.
The Customer Service Representative's duties include performing routine teller transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, transfers, and handling mail or night drop transactions, all while adhering strictly to security guidelines and regulatory policies. This position requires working quickly and accurately to service customers waiting in line, processing various administrative and compliance tasks like Currency Transaction Reports and anti-money laundering procedures. The role also involves educating customers on banking technology like mobile and online banking and identifying additional customer needs by offering referrals to other products and services offered by Mechanics Bank.
Beyond transactional duties, the Customer Service Representative acts as a frontline ambassador of the bank, providing exemplary customer service both in person and over the phone. Maintaining professionalism in conduct and appearance is critical to representing Mechanics Bank’s values effectively. This role also demands vigilance in cash handling and fraud prevention, requiring balance of cash supplies each shift and recognition of suspicious customer transactions.
Mechanics Bank welcomes those with a minimum of one year of experience in a banking environment and customer service roles that involved cash handling. A High School diploma or GED is required, though additional experience may substitute for educational requirements. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, the ability to make informed decisions, and knowledge of bank deposit products and services. Mechanics Bank is an equal opportunity employer committed to offering equal employment opportunities without discrimination.
