The role of Customer Service Representative at Mechanics Bank is an on-site position dedicated to delivering outstanding banking services and support to customers. This role reports under general supervision but operates following established policies and banking regulations to ensure the highest level of operational quality and accuracy. Customer Service Representatives serve as the frontline ambassadors of the bank, responsible for processing a range of banking transactions from basic to moderately complex levels, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, and transfers. The position demands meticulous attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to handle cash responsibly. In addition to transaction processing, representatives assist customers with account maintenance activities such as reconciling accounts, issuing copies of statements and checks, account closures, address changes, stop payments, and debit card services.

The Customer Service Representative works collaboratively not only within their branch but may also assist other branches as needed. The role includes key responsibilities connected to cash handling and security, ensuring adherence to all cash handling policies, accurately balancing cash at the end of shifts, reviewing transactions for potential fraud, and assisting in branch opening and closing procedures.

This position also involves various administrative and compliance tasks critical to maintaining regulatory requirements, such as processing Currency Transaction Reports, managing holds, overdrafts, and supporting audit functions. Candidates for this role should possess a high school diploma or GED, with at least one year of experience in banking and customer service roles that include cash handling. Job Duties

  • performs routine teller transactions and works directly with clients
  • accepts, verifies, and processes basic to more complex customer transactions according to established procedures and security guidelines
  • assists customers with account reconcilement, copies of statements and checks, orders checks, account closures, address changes, stop payments, debit card maintenance, and safe deposit box entrances
  • assists at other branches as needed
  • provides exemplary customer service both in person and over the phone
  • identifies additional customer needs and makes recommendations through proactive conversations
  • educates customers on banking technology such as mobile and online banking
  • maintains and balances a cash supply for transactions performed
  • reviews customer transactions for red flags and fraudulent items
  • assists in the opening and closing of the branch following established security procedures
  • processes various reports and forms to ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory programs
  • assists with branch audit functions
  • completes required compliance tasks by assigned due dates
