Job Description
National Louis University is a distinguished institution with over 135 years of history rooted in the principles of innovation, access, excellence, and equity. Established to provide educational opportunities that act as levers for social and economic mobility, National Louis remains steadfast in its student-focused mission. The university prides itself on fostering a collaborative and respectful community dedicated to continuous improvement and superior service to its students. Grounded in the belief that education empowers change and builds healthier communities, National Louis University supports students from diverse backgrounds through a robust network of academic and support services.
As a private university situated in Chicago, National Louis blends tradition with progressive educational practices to ensure that students not only succeed academically but also develop holistically. The institution’s commitment to inclusion and equity permeates every aspect of campus life, inviting individuals from a wide range of identities and experiences to thrive. This commitment is paired with highly accessible programs designed to meet the needs of working students, adult learners, and traditionally underserved populations. The university’s culture emphasizes respect, innovation, and the upliftment of its community members, which translates into a vibrant campus atmosphere and strong alumni network.
This role of Customer Service Receptionist at National Louis University’s Chicago campus is integral to sustaining this supportive and student-centered environment. Serving as the primary point of contact for a varied audience that includes students, prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors, the receptionist acts as an ambassador for the university. The position entails front desk responsibilities combined with providing exceptional customer service, answering and routing phone calls, responding to inquiries promptly, and connecting individuals with the appropriate campus resources. This role demands professionalism and clear communication to ensure a welcoming, organized, and efficient entry point into the campus experience.
In this fast-paced educational setting, the Customer Service Receptionist will also support enrollment-related functions such as assisting with registration, student traffic flow during peak times, and event logistics for major campus initiatives including orientations and commencement ceremonies. Beyond front desk operations, the receptionist will perform administrative duties like data entry, document management, and special project assistance, contributing to the operational efficiency of the university's student services departments.
The role offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of community engagement and educational support, offering valuable experience in a dynamic academic environment. The position is structured as a full-time role with a typical workweek of 37.5 hours and a competitive hourly salary ranging from $17.05 to $21.75, dependent on experience and qualifications. Employees at National Louis University also gain access to a wide range of benefits fostering both personal and professional growth, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and educational opportunities. The university encourages all interested candidates to apply with a resume, and current employees must include an internal posting form.
This role is not only critical for the daily functionality of campus operations but embodies the university’s inclusive ethos and commitment to service excellence. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment committed to equity and will directly contribute to creating a positive and accessible campus experience for all members of the National Louis community.
