The role of Customer Service Representative / Lot Attendant at U-Haul is a dynamic position perfect for motivated individuals who enjoy working with people and providing exceptional service. This role involves inspecting and maintaining moving equipment, assisting customers with their rental needs, and using modern technology to manage inventory and dispatch equipment efficiently. It is a hands-on job that combines physical activity with customer interaction, making it ideal for candidates who are proactive, organized, and enthusiastic about helping others on their moving journeys.
U-Haul offers a competitive pay range of $16.90 to $19.00 per hour for this position, along with immediate earning opportunities through paid hands-on working interviews and a $100 hiring bonus. Additionally, employees can earn a $300 cash bonus by completing U-Haul’s Equipment Inspection and Verification certification program. This position also includes on-the-job training, ensuring that new hires are well-prepared to perform their duties with confidence and care.
Key responsibilities include assisting customers both inside and outside the rental center, utilizing smartphone technology for rental and inventory management, moving and hooking up trucks and trailers, and conducting thorough equipment inspections including checking fluid levels. Employees also prepare rental invoices, accept returned equipment, install hitches and trailer wiring, and operate forklifts and propane refilling equipment once certified. Safety is a priority, with required use of protective gear and adherence to safety protocols in a work environment involving machinery and potential hazards.
U-Haul supports its employees with an extensive array of benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, life insurance, legal assistance, auto and home insurance plans, discounts on technology and travel, retirement savings plans including a 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), dental and vision coverage, a wellness program, critical illness insurance, and access to a 24-hour pediatrician service.
