Job Description

U-Haul is a renowned company that has been serving self-moving customers and households since 1945. Recognized for pioneering the concept of do-it-yourself moving equipment available on a one-way, nationwide basis, U-Haul was founded by L.S. "Sam" Shoen and Anna Mary Carty Shoen. Their innovative business model spread the cost of ownership among many users, enabling the mobility of populations across the United States and Canada. Over the decades, U-Haul has grown into a leading provider of moving and storage solutions, including trailers, trucks, and equipment rentals, supported by an extensive network of retail locations and a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction and innovation.

U-Haul Holding Company and its affiliates foster a culture of health, wellness, and community support. Since February 2020, consistent with applicable laws, the company has implemented policies regarding the hiring of individuals related to nicotine product use in certain states to support a healthy workforce.

The role of Customer Service Representative / Lot Attendant at U-Haul is pivotal to the company’s commitment to outstanding customer service and operational excellence. This position involves being the face of U-Haul at retail centers, where employees assist customers both inside the store and on the rental lot. Responsibilities include managing rental equipment using smartphone-based U-Scan technology, preparing rental invoices, assisting with the hookup and movement of trucks and trailers, and maintaining the equipment’s cleanliness and operational condition by inspecting fluids and performing safety checks.

The position offers on-the-job training, including certifications for propane filling and forklift operation, ensuring that employees are well-equipped to perform their duties safely and efficiently. The role requires physical exertion, such as moving equipment over 50 pounds and working outdoors in various weather conditions. The work environment involves safety precautions due to the use of machinery and exposure to irritant chemicals, demanding the use of protective clothing or gear as necessary.

U-Haul emphasizes career stability and advancement opportunities for its employees. The company’s motto, "Hire Fast, Pay Fast," reflects its commitment to promptly onboarding and compensating new hires, including paying employees for hands-on working interviews. Additionally, U-Haul offers attractive hiring bonuses and cash incentives upon certification completion, enhancing the overall employment experience.

Employees enjoy a wide array of benefits, including health and prescription plans, paid holidays, vacation and sick days, life insurance, legal support programs, auto and home insurance discounts, technology discounts, retirement savings plans, stock ownership options, and identity theft protection. U-Haul’s comprehensive benefits package promotes employee well-being, financial security, and work-life balance.

Joining U-Haul as a Customer Service Representative / Lot Attendant means becoming part of a supportive team dedicated to helping customers on their journeys through reliable service, effective communication, and continuous learning offered via U-Haul University. This role is ideal for individuals who are personable, motivated, and ready to engage in meaningful, hands-on work that directly impacts customer satisfaction and company success.
