Job Description
U-Haul is a well-established company known for providing reliable do-it-yourself moving equipment and services across the United States and Canada. Founded in 1945 by L.S. "Sam" Shoen and his wife Anna Mary Carty Shoen, U-Haul pioneered a concept to meet the growing post-World War II need for accessible moving solutions. The company's vision was to allow customers to rent one-way moving trucks, trailers, and equipment, spreading out the cost and facilitating mobility for millions. Over the years, U-Haul's orange trailers and trucks have become a symbol of independence and convenience for movers nationwide. U-Haul Holding Company, along with its family of companies, continues to emphasize a culture of health, wellness, and excellence in customer service.
The role of Customer Service Representative and Lot Attendant at U-Haul offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who love helping others and enjoy engaging directly with customers. As the face of U-Haul in local retail centers, Customer Service Representatives play a crucial part in delivering the company’s exceptional service standards. This position is designed for friendly, motivated people who thrive in interactive and hands-on environments. Employees assist customers with rental needs, provide product education, inspect and maintain equipment, and use advanced smartphone-based technology to manage rentals and inventory efficiently.
In this role, you will be responsible for tasks such as moving and hooking up U-Haul trucks and trailers, preparing rental invoices, cleaning and inspecting equipment, and installing hitches and trailer wiring. U-Haul provides significant on-the-job training, including opportunities to become certified in propane filling and forklift operation. Furthermore, this position encourages continuous learning through U-Haul University, ensuring you grow professionally alongside the company.
The company is committed to enabling its employees to start working quickly with a unique hiring process that includes paid hands-on interviews and immediate payment upon starting. Additionally, U-Haul offers competitive hiring bonuses and cash incentives for certification completion through its 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program. This role provides career stability and numerous opportunities for advancement within the U-Haul family.
U-Haul is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive workplace. They offer individual accommodations throughout the recruitment and employment processes to support all team members' success. The work environment may involve moderate physical activity and safety precautions, including working outdoors and handling equipment up to 50 pounds.
Joining U-Haul as a Customer Service Representative means being part of a company with a rich history and a dedication to customer satisfaction, employee growth, and community support. Employment includes health and prescription plans, life insurance, paid holidays, vacations, and sick leave if eligible, along with discounts on technology products and various insurance benefits. U-Haul’s reputation and employee-centric policies make it an excellent choice for candidates seeking a meaningful and stable career in customer service and equipment management.
