Job Description
U-Haul is a well-established company that has been serving the needs of do-it-yourself movers and their households since 1945. Originating after World War II, U-Haul was created to address the widespread demand for affordable, one-way moving equipment accessible on a nationwide basis across the U.S. and Canada. The company's founders, L.S. "Sam" Shoen and Anna Mary Carty Shoen, innovatively spread the cost of ownership among multiple users, which revolutionized the moving industry. Over the decades, U-Haul has evolved from providing simple orange trailers into offering a wide range of rental equipment and related services with an unwavering commitment to customer service and support. U-Haul Holding Company and its family of companies emphasize a culture of health and wellness and adhere to policies that foster safe and productive work environments for their employees.
U-Haul is currently seeking friendly and motivated individuals to join their team as Customer Service Representatives / Lot Attendants. This full-time, in-person role comes with an hourly pay rate of $17.00 and offers several attractive benefits, including a $100 hiring bonus and a $300 cash bonus upon completing the U-Haul Equipment Inspection and Verification certification program. The role emphasizes hands-on learning, as candidates will be paid for attending two hands-on working interviews. The position provides an outstanding opportunity for those who enjoy interacting with people, problem-solving, and contributing to a smooth and satisfying customer experience.
In the role of Customer Service Representative / Lot Attendant, employees act as the face of U-Haul by delivering exceptional customer service inside and outside the U-Haul center. The job involves assisting customers with U-Haul products and services, including helping with moving trucks and trailers, managing rentals through smartphone technology, and performing equipment inspections and maintenance. Employees will also perform tasks such as moving, hooking up, and cleaning rental equipment, filling propane tanks, installing hitches and trailer wiring, and driving forklifts after receiving certification through U-Haul upon employment.
The role requires a balance of customer interaction, technical skills, physical activity, and safety awareness. Employees participate in continuous education through U-Haul University to stay current with company protocols and service standards. The work environment involves moderate risks, such as working around moving machinery and chemicals, and requires wearing protective gear when necessary. Physically, employees must be able to lift and move equipment weighing at least 50 pounds and be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.
U-Haul is dedicated to diversity and inclusivity and encourages people with a criminal record to apply. They ensure equal opportunity by considering all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, or veteran status, and they provide accommodations during the hiring process as needed. This role is ideal for individuals who take pride in delivering top-notch customer service and want to grow their career with a stable and reputable company that offers numerous advancement opportunities and benefits.
