Job Description
Goodwill is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with barriers to employment find meaningful work opportunities. With a vast network of donation centers and retail stores, Goodwill accepts donated goods and resells them at affordable prices, generating funds that support vocational training, job placement services, and community programs. As a leader in social impact retail, Goodwill combines quality customer service with its mission of empowering individuals to achieve economic independence and stability. The organization values respect, cooperation, and teamwork, fostering a positive environment for employees, donors, and customers alike.
The Customer Service Associate (CSA) plays an integral part in supporting Goodwill's mission by providing excellent customer experiences and ensuring smooth operations at the retail store level. This role is primarily responsible for front-end store activities including operating cash registers, processing merchandise donations, pricing goods, and maintaining an inviting and safe sales floor. The CSA acts as a face of the store, greeting and assisting shoppers and donors, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment. Additionally, this position contributes to inventory management by restocking and organizing merchandise according to company standards. Employees in this role must be adaptable, dependable, and capable of working collaboratively to meet sales goals and uphold company policies. The role also involves adherence to safety and loss prevention protocols to protect customers, staff, and assets. Typical work hours include evenings, weekends, and holidays to ensure coverage during operating hours. Though no minimum education requirement exists, prior experience in retail or customer service is beneficial. Physical demands require the ability to regularly lift and handle merchandise up to 35 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions in a fast-paced retail setting. Goodwill offers a supportive workplace with opportunities for training and development aligned with the organization’s values and mission of creating vocational chances for people facing employment barriers.
