Job Description
Wawa, Inc. stands as a prominent convenience store and gas station chain in the United States, primarily concentrated in the Mid-Atlantic region. Known for its commitment to quality, customer service, and community involvement, Wawa has grown into a beloved brand that millions rely on daily for convenience, fresh food options, and friendly service. Established over six decades ago, the company embraces a unique culture centered on caring for its customers, Associates, and communities. Wawa operates a wide network of stores that provide a diverse range of products including freshly prepared hoagies, coffee, beverages, snacks, and fuel services. Their reputation for quality and service excellence has cultivated a loyal customer base and positioned Wawa as a leader in the retail convenience sector.
The role of a Customer Service Associate (CSA) at Wawa is fundamental to sustaining the company’s high standards and brand promise. As a CSA, you become the face of Wawa, greeting customers warmly and ensuring every individual’s experience is positive and memorable. This position demands a blend of customer engagement, multitasking abilities, and operational efficiency. The CSA is responsible for food preparation—including sandwiches, breakfast items, specialty beverages, and pizzas—ensuring that all products meet Wawa’s quality standards. Operating the cash register, processing various payment methods, activating fuel and gift cards, and performing age verification on restricted items are critical components of the job.
In addition to customer interaction and transaction handling, the Customer Service Associate plays a vital role in maintaining an inviting store atmosphere. Responsibilities include stocking shelves, keeping merchandise fresh and orderly, and ensuring cleanliness throughout the store by performing housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and rubbish disposal. These duties contribute directly to a safe and welcoming shopping experience that aligns with Wawa’s commitment to excellence.
This position offers flexible scheduling options suitable for students or individuals looking for part-time or full-time employment. It requires candidates to be at least 16 years old with reliable transportation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment. The hourly wage ranges from $15.00 to $18.75, depending on experience, position, and location, with an additional $1.50 shift differential for overnight hours worked between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Wawa promotes a culture where Associates are owners and key contributors to success, offering many opportunities for growth and personal development. A comprehensive benefits package supports the well-being of Associates, including medical, dental, vision, mental health coverage, a 401(k) plan with company matching, an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), paid parental leave, education assistance programs, store discounts, paid time off, and access to wellness programs. Wawa is dedicated to maintaining an inclusive and supportive work environment where diversity is celebrated, and every Associate is treated with fairness and respect.
