The role of an Assistant Store Manager at Five Below is integral to continuing the company's success and delivering outstanding customer service. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will work closely with the Store Manager to lead and inspire the store team in creating the best in-store experience possible. This position involves managing front-end operations including merchandising and equipment maintenance, ensuring that the store maintains its cleanliness and readiness for customers, and taking the lead in the Store Manager’s absence to guarantee smooth daily operations. You will also be responsible for recruiting, training, coaching, and supervising associates, fostering a positive work environment where everyone can thrive and contribute to the store’s goals. This position demands leadership, multitasking, and communication skills, along with a passion for retail and customer engagement. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of retail management experience
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical capability to move merchandise weighing up to 25 pounds and perform tasks such as ascending ladders and bending
  • Ability to operate cash register
  • Proficiency in maintaining store cleanliness and stock room organization
  • Ability to follow detailed operational procedures
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining professional composure

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • College experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure

Job Duties

  • Ensures all crew members are wowing the customer through personal contact with customers
  • Trains the crew on the B.E.S.T. customer service experience
  • Ensuring that each guest has a fast, friendly check out experience
  • Responsible for leading their assigned store to achieve and maintain customer service score goals provided by the District Manager
  • Responsible for leading front end operations, ensuring front end merchandising (candy, soda, snacks) are set and meet or exceed brand standards
  • Ensures that all front-end equipment is in working order and associates are trained to include services where applicable
  • Responsible for opening and closing procedures, maintaining the store cleanliness, recovery, and keeping their store ready for customers at all times
  • Responsible for performing store manager duties in their absence
  • Partners with the store manager to recruit, train, coach, develop and supervise all crew members
  • Reviews all corporate communications and reacts accordingly
  • Partners with the entire store leadership team in merchandising procedures and World Recovery
  • Performs store maintenance including but not limited to taking out garbage, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, maintaining stock room
