The organization is currently seeking a hospitality-focused Custodian/Janitor to join their dedicated team. This role is pivotal in maintaining the clean and sanitary conditions of the facility, which directly impacts the comfort and safety of the residents and visitors. The position is structured as a part-time role with a 32-hour workweek, offering a competitive starting hourly wage of $17.00. The Custodian/Janitor’s responsibilities are diverse and essential for the smooth operation of the community’s environment. The role involves following a strict cleaning schedule which includes daily, weekly, and monthly tasks designed to maintain high standards of hygiene across various areas such as residential spaces, common areas, patios, walkways, parking lots, and stairways. The custodian is tasked with a variety of cleaning methods including dry and wet mopping, sweeping, disinfecting, vacuuming, shampooing carpets, and window washing both inside and outside the buildings. Beyond cleaning, the role requires inspection of furnishings for wear and defects, arranging furniture as needed, managing waste disposal, and handling soiled linens by sending them to laundry.
Scheduled shifts are designed to cover essential hours across the week, with workdays on Tuesday morning, Thursday and Friday afternoons, and Saturday mornings, allowing the custodian to have Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays off. This schedule promotes work-life balance while ensuring the custodial needs of the facility are consistently met.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred
- Ability to follow cleaning procedures and safety guidelines
- Physical capability to perform repetitive tasks and lift moderate weight
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Availability to work scheduled shifts including early mornings and evenings
- Good communication skills for teamwork and resident interaction
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work preferred
- Ability to follow instructions and cleaning schedules
- Good interpersonal skills for interacting with residents and staff
- Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks including lifting and bending
- Reliable and punctual work ethic
Job Duties
- Follows cleaning schedule daily weekly monthly as outlined for housekeeping department
- Cleans assigned areas furnishings fixtures gutters power washing outside walkways resident patios parking areas according to established procedures
- Cleans floors dry mop wet mop sweeps disinfects where and when necessary
- Cleans carpeting and rugs vacuums carpeting shampoo and extract carpets and rugs
- Straightens or rearranges furniture as directed inspects furnishings for wear and defects and reports to supervisor
- Cleans stairways entrances exits
- Removes waste and disposes of waste and trash sends soiled linen to laundry
- Washes windows inside and outside of residential and commons area
