QVI is currently seeking a dedicated Custodian/Housekeeper to join their team in Rochester, NY. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday with a schedule from 1:45 pm to 7:30 pm, offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $17 to $22, depending on experience. The Custodian/Housekeeper plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned campus areas and buildings within the QVI facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a sanitary, safe, and visually appealing environment by performing daily cleaning tasks such as sanitizing offices, restrooms, conference rooms, hallways, and stairways. This role requires thoroughness in the use of designated cleaning products and tools while following established procedures to uphold QVI’s standards of facility maintenance. Additional tasks include emptying trash receptacles, replacing liners, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping specific areas such as machining zones.
This role demands physical stamina and the ability to work safely around cleaning agents, dust, and odors. Exposure to moderate physical activity like bending, kneeling, crouching, and standing for extended periods is essential. The Custodian/Housekeeper must also have the capability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds, and when necessary, operate heavy cleaning equipment with appropriate safety precautions and personal protective equipment provided by QVI.
Beyond day-to-day cleaning, this position contributes to QVI’s overall operational efficiency by supporting a clean environment that promotes employee health and productivity. The Custodian/Housekeeper will report to management and may perform other assigned duties to support the workplace’s maintenance and cleanliness goals. Job Requirements
- 3-5 plus years of custodial experience required
- educational qualifications are not required
- physical ability necessary for sufficient mobility to walk from one building to another several times throughout a working shift
- ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist and stand for extended periods of time
- must be able to push, pull, lift or carry light to moderate heavy objects up to 50 pounds
- if requested, moving or operating of heavy cleaning equipment may be necessary
- exposure to cleaning agents, dust, dirt, and odors may occur occasionally to frequently
- proper PPE for cleaning tasks will be provided
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Clean offices, restrooms, conference rooms, hallways, and stairways thoroughly using designated cleaning products and tools
- empty trash receptacles and replace liners in trash cans
- vacuum designated areas
- sweep and mop around machining area and other assigned areas as needed
- be exposed to cleaning agents, dust and odors
- perform other related duties and tasks as assigned by management
